ADDICTION THERAPY FOR MEN IN HOUSTON, TX
REGAIN CONTROL WITHOUT LOSING YOUR EDGE
For Men in High-Responsibility Careers Who Value Privacy, Effectiveness, and Performance
At first, it was a way to have fun and blow off steam. A few drinks here and there. A Saturday night online. The occasionally friendly bet.
What once helped you manage stress, pressure, or exhaustion has become harder to control. Now it's putting everything you've built at risk: your career, relationships, health, and reputation.
You’re used to approaching challenges with focus, discipline, and determination. You should be able to handle this. But every failed attempt feels like evidence of falling short.
Addiction is not a lack of willpower. It’s problem-solving gone out of control.
WHEN THE SOLUTION HAS BECOME THE PROBLEM
Drinking, drugs, gambling, sex, or other compulsive behaviors started from trying to solve a problem – to manage stress, relieve pressure, enhance performance, or keep going when exhausted.
But now it’s become something to control, hide, or rely on for performance. The same discipline, intelligence, and persistence that help you succeed are often what can make addiction harder to manage.
Our work focuses on two things: expanding your ability to handle stress, setbacks, and competing demands and helping you gain traction over the cravings, urges, and triggers that put you at risk.
WHAT YOU CAN GET FROM ADDICTION THERAPY
Less reliance on substances to manage stress or unwind
Stronger control over compulsive urges or behaviors
Improved performance across demanding environments
Clearer, more confident decision-making under pressure
Greater leadership presence and self-confidence

ADDICTION THERAPIST FOR MEN IN HOUSTON, TX
Guy Felder, LPC-Associate
Working under the supervision of Scott Stanley, LPC-S
When I sought treatment for binge eating, the only treatment model offered was the "phoenix model.” Where you put your entire life aside to focus on your recovery, rising up from the flames as a new, recovered human.
But as an entrepreneur running a high-profile consulting business, stepping away from my life for a few weeks or months would leave my reputation in ashes, not my addiction.
I found myself facing the same dilemma many successful men do:
Keep hiding the problem and hope it doesn't get worse
Wait until potentially disastrous consequences force me to get treatment
Successful men need another option. So I built one.
Today, my work is built around helping high-performing men gain relief from addiction without sacrificing their career, status, or potential to achieve.
I BUILT THE APPROACH I COULDN’T FIND
FOR PERFORMANCE-DRIVEN CAREERS
My approach is designed for professionals operating in high-pressure, high-responsibility roles where performance is non-negotiable, such as:
Executives
Entrepreneurs
Attorneys
Physicians and Surgeons
Finance Professionals
Technology Founders
Aviation Professionals
First Responders
Military Veterans
Sales Professionals
Real Estate Professionals
Professional Athletes

FAQ: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
-
Unlike some addiction treatment models, you don't need to decide right now whether your goal is sobriety or reducing your use. For some of my clients, it's to develop a healthier relationship with certain substances or behaviors through using moderation, reducing harm, or engaging without secrecy, shame, or loss of control.
Whatever your goals may be, any type of addiction recovery requires expanding your range of coping strategies so that substances or behaviors are no longer your only option for managing stress, emotions, or unwinding.
-
For most of my clients, the primary barrier to treatment isn't whether they want help; it's concerns about privacy, reputational exposure, or potential career consequences.
You won’t have to tell me everything for therapy to be effective. We'll focus only on the information necessary to support your recovery. I'll be transparent about confidentiality, its limitations, and any relevant risk considerations from the start.
Additionally, part of my method is to help men navigate complex situations thoughtfully, not creating unnecessary exposure. We'll evaluate treatment through a balance of clinical needs, privacy, and professional obligations so your treatment supports your long-term recovery.
-
My top goal is for you to remain fully engaged in your work, relationships, and hobbies and anything else that’s important to you during your course of treatment.
Addiction therapy is paced intentionally, with a focus on stabilization first. From there, we can plan sessions around important meetings, travel, court appearances, procedures, shifts, or other career demands. Recovery shouldn't put your career at risk in order to save it.
-
No. Most of my clients are skilled at solving problems independently. You’ve built a career by working harder than everyone else, thinking of solutions no one else sees, and pushing through challenges that would overwhelm many people.
That mindset is an asset in all areas of life—except when it comes to addiction.
Addiction was once a highly effective solution to a problem. What once helped manage stress, pressure, uncertainty, or emotional demands has outgrown its usefulness. The decision to seek therapy isn't a sign of failure. It's the wise recognition that relying on the same strategy is now producing unacceptable costs.
-
My goal isn’t for you to depend on therapy, but to become less dependent on the substance or behavior that brought you here in the first place.
Once we reach a place where you can sustain recovery without regular support, you may choose to remain connected to therapy periodically, much like you would consult a trusted advisor during major transitions. However, you may also reach a point where you no longer need regular support. Either outcome is acceptable.
